OVERVIEW

About

Zero Cow Factory, founded in 2021 by Sohil and Parini Kapadia in Surat, is India’s first precision fermentation startup focused on producing animal-free A2 milk proteins. The company uses a patented process to clone genes from the indigenous Gir cow into microbes, enabling them to ferment and produce casein and whey proteins identical to those found in cow’s milk. Unlike most global players working on standard milk proteins, Zero Cow is uniquely focused on A2 proteins, which are more digestible and in higher demand among health-conscious and lactose-intolerant consumers.

Why We Invested?

We invested in Zero Cow Factory because it represents a rare convergence of deep-tech IP, strong founder-market fit, and global market timing. The team has spent over five years building expertise in alternative proteins and is among the very few globally to crack animal-free A2 milk protein: a clear differentiator in a market flooded with generic alt-dairy plays. Their approach as a tech-first company with licensing and B2B supply ambitions offers significantly higher scalability and margin potential compared to consumer-focused brands. Backing from global accelerators like Plug & Play, Mylkcubator, and MassChallenge, along with participation from Pascual, further validates their tech and commercial roadmap. With a clear moat, and growing global demand for sustainable dairy alternatives, Zero Cow Factory is well-positioned to become a category leader in precision-fermented dairy proteins.
