RAS Beauty: India’s First Farm-to-Face Luxury Skincare Brand

Table of Contents

In a landscape dominated by mass-market players and marketing-first beauty brands, RAS Beauty (formerly RAS Oils) is a breath of fresh air. A vertically integrated, women-led skincare brand built out of Raipur, Chhattisgarh, RAS is India’s first truly “farm-to-face” luxury beauty company. It merges sustainable sourcing, scientific formulation, and high-touch branding into a compelling consumer offering—and that’s precisely why we at Climate Angels chose to invest.

Founded in 2021 by the mother-daughters trio: Shubhika, Suramya, and Sangeeta Jain, RAS was built with a clear vision: to create natural, high-efficacy skincare that doesn’t compromise on sensorial experience or sustainability. And they’ve done just that. From cultivating herbs on their own farms to formulating and bottling products in-house, RAS controls its supply chain end-to-end. This vertical integration isn’t just a brand story, it’s a core moat.

What Makes RAS Stand Out?

RAS operates two distinct lines:

  • RAS Luxury Oils – A high-end, premium line of face and body care that competes with the likes of Forest Essentials.

  • Moody – An accessible range targeted at mid-premium consumers, rivalling players like Mamaearth.

But beyond the branding, the products themselves are formulated in collaboration with the family-run Adithya Biotech Labs. They’re free of synthetics, parabens, alcohols, and artificial fragrances—offering consumers the clean beauty they increasingly demand. Every product is handmade, sustainably packaged, and rooted in scientific R&D and aromatherapy principles.

This level of control and transparency—coupled with a high repeat purchase rate and gross margins —gives RAS a formidable foundation to scale from. The brand currently offers 80+ SKUs, with a healthy sales skew towards its top-performing products. Notably, majority of sales come directly from its own website, showcasing impressive D2C strength in a category where channel control is critical.

Why We Invested

Our investment thesis centered around three core pillars:

1. Strong Market Tailwinds
The Indian beauty and personal care market is on a tear, projected to grow from $17B in 2021 to $30B by 2026. Within that, the premium natural skincare niche is witnessing a sharp uptick in demand—driven by rising income levels, digitally savvy consumers, and increased awareness about clean beauty. RAS is well-positioned to ride this wave, offering a premium product backed by both storytelling and science.

2. End-to-End Sustainability & Supply Chain Ownership
In an industry notorious for greenwashing, RAS walks the talk. Its entire value chain—from farm to formulation to packaging—is designed for minimal waste and maximum traceability. Initiatives like solar-powered drying, upcycled aromatic waste, and returnable glass packaging via “Recycle with RAS” signal deep commitment to ESG principles. For a climate-focused fund like ours, this was non-negotiable.

3. Category-Creating Brand with Strong Early Traction
Despite being a young brand, RAS hit Rs. 7 Cr revenue in FY22. With high month-on-month growth and entry into export markets like Dubai and Hong Kong, the brand is scaling fast. It has already struck B2B partnerships with premium hotels like Marriott and Hyatt, and airlines like Vistara. For a pre-Series A stage company, that traction is rare and exciting.

A Brand with Purpose and Potential

What drew us most to RAS wasn’t just the numbers, it was the clarity of purpose. The brand’s founders are deeply committed to building a company that empowers women, respects the environment, and delivers exceptional products. Their approach to clean beauty isn’t trend-chasing; it’s conviction-led.

In a market where many beauty brands are built on packaging and performance marketing alone, RAS is doing the harder thing: building a product-first, sustainability-rooted business from the ground up. And doing it profitably.

As RAS continues its journey to become India’s go-to premium skincare brand, we are proud to support its vision. We believe the future of beauty lies in brands that are clean, conscious, and customer-obsessed and RAS is all that, and more.
